Independence Day???

2 min read

This year it is difficult to get excited about our country's birthday. In the past year and a half, the transgender community has lost so many freedoms I don't know where to begin. America has never been truly free; however, two years ago it had reached the height of the freest it has ever been.

Isn't the American dream based on freedom for ALL? Transgender people were not created less equal and should not be treated as though we are. This is just a sample of the freadoms the transgender has lost since the last election.

  • We have lost the freedom of self-determination

  • We have lost the freedom to not be bullied and subject to hate speech on social media

  • We have lost the freedom from discrimination, bias and bigotry in the workplace

  • We have lost the freedom to participate in sports based on our factual gender identity

  • We have lost the freedom of speech, with the truth being labeled as terrorism

  • We have lost the freedom of being safe while simply peeing

  • We have lost the freedom to travel without the fear of being detained for who we are

  • We have lost countless other freedoms that we should be able to take for granted

I am proud that I was born transgender woman. My greatest accomplishment has been to survive a lifetime of trauma inflicted by bullies and bigots. The rest of my life is dedicated to changing the world around me so that transgender people can live freely and safely.

The American dream for transgender youth needs to be the freedom to survive childhood and thrive as adults. America will never truly be free until every citizen is free. Transgender rights are human rights!!!

You can read about my triumphant victory over trauma and lifelong suicide ideation that culminated in 2024. You can learn how I finally came to love life and love myself. You can become part of my story and help me realize my life's purpose.

My story is My Life in Transition - Becoming a Phoenix

You can learn how to become a phoenix too.
